Set a distance you would actually use

Most people set their search radius too wide, then wonder why half their matches never turn into a message. A match forty kilometres away on the wrong side of a city is not really nearby. Pick the distance you would genuinely cover after work on a Tuesday, not the distance you would cover once on a long weekend, and search on that instead.

Where our coverage is strongest

Coverage tracks where our members already are, and that is heaviest in Victoria and New South Wales, with solid coverage in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. We have built full local pages for the five cities where that coverage is deepest.

Honest about everywhere else

Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory have a smaller number of members than the five cities above, and we are not going to pad a page for those places with filler to make them look busier than they are. If you are in Hobart, Darwin, Canberra or a smaller regional centre, the search and distance tools work exactly the same way, and coverage will simply be thinner. We would rather say that plainly than dress up a thin page as a full one.

Some nights there will be nobody worth messaging

That is true everywhere, in every city, on every site like this. It is not a flaw specific to Instant Quickies and nobody who tells you otherwise is being straight with you. Set your distance, check back over a few different days rather than once, and treat a quiet night as normal rather than as a reason to widen your radius past what you would actually travel.
